Can cacao be used to activate and connect to different energy centers in our bodies?
Cacao is known to be one of Earth’s gifts to the heart. When people learn about cacao, they learn that it is a heart opener and works directly with the energy center of their heart. The heart expands, barriers melt away, and people have easier access to the depths of their emotions and experiences. People can experience things like joy, bliss, and integration.
What happens though, when the cacao is infused with other herbs or spices? Or what happens when the cacao comes from different parts of the earth, is harvested by different communities, and people who have different ways of relating to the earth?
Could it be that the cacao can then work with additional energy centers or chakras in the body along with the heart-opening and connection that occurs?

The Seven Energy Centers or Chakras
The traditional chakra system focuses on the seven energy centers originating from the Hindu culture. We honor and understand that there is much to cover in regards to chakras and their original names as well as how they relate to each part of the body. For the purposes of this post, we are going to focus on a high-level overview of the most well known seven energy centers:
- Root Chakra - located at the base of the spine; security and safety, feeling supported
- Sacral Chakra - located about 3 inches below the navel; pleasure, creativity, sensuality
- Solar Plexus Chakra - located near the diaphragm; willpower, personal identity, confidence
- Heart Chakra - located at the center of the chest; love, harmony, compassion
- Throat Chakra - located at the center of the throat; expression, communication
- Third Eye Chakra - located in between the eyebrows; intuition, foresight, vision
- Crown Chakra - located at the top of the head; access to higher states of consciousness, getting in touch with divinity
