New Site, New Look, Same Cacao, Love & Dedication

We are thrilled to share with you that Firefly Chocolate is officially becoming Ora Cacao

We know you might have some questions about this transformation, so we're here to guide you through and fill you in on what this means for us.

Below, our founder, Jonas, lovingly shares how this change came about and what it means for the company!

A Cacao Led Change

The inspiration for our rebrand to Ora Cacao is manyfold. First, this is not an agency rebrand. Instead, it has been an organic process unfolding over many years and is a result of much conversation and listening to cacao.

While Firefly Chocolate was a good name for us and beloved by many, it was intended for a different vision and scale. When I started Firefly, it was to create a small bean-to-bar craft chocolate company. I could have never imagined that we would grow to become a leading global supplier of ceremonial cacao.

So when I first started calling in a new name a year and a half ago, we had already grown far beyond the vision of Firefly. I knew I wanted our new name to be short and primarily vowels, sounding organic and earthy. The moment 'Ora' came into my consciousness, I was on a bicycle ride along the windy Russian River, just inland from the California coastline. I immediately knew that it would become our new name.

I loved that, unlike Firefly, it would not easily be confused for other similar words like 'dragonfly' (you won't believe how many times I've gotten that!). Also, unlike Firefly, it doesn't bring up a host of other associations (the lightning bug, the TV show, a nearby restaurant, etc.) Finally, Ora Cacao is only eight letters total, compared to the lengthy 16 characters in Firefly Chocolate.

Our Expanded Vision

Rebranding and furthermore renaming is a momentous moment that only happens rarely in the journey of a company. However, Firefly has brought us to this point and created a fantastic foundation from which we will carry forth the mission of Ora Ceremonial Cacao for many years to come. This mission is featured on our new home page:

"We make the very best ceremonial cacao that is pure, accessible, and easy to use. Our products and services are our sacred activism in response to a consumptive and exploitative chocolate industry. We leverage our access and privilege for healing on the local and global scale, by pushing the envelope with a track record of truth telling, strong partnerships, and impeccable quality to back us up."

A Few Logistical Things

We will need all of your help letting our community and the world beyond know that we are now Ora Cacao! If you notice any bugs or glitches on our new website, please let us know at our new support email

Thank you for the help! We'll be continuing using the domain and Instagram @cacaoceremony for the remainder of 2021.

You can also now type in, and it will redirect you to our website. However, we won't make the permanent change of URL for another little while as that’s quite complicated!

As always, we're here to help answer any questions or concerns you may have. So please feel free to reach out to us; we love hearing from you!

Stay tuned to get more insight on this change, the meaning of our new company name, and what it took to make this all possible (including you!).

Love, gratitude, & cacao,

Jonas & the Ora Cacao Family 🎉
