Fri July 4th | US Independence Day

This celebration of American independence reminds us of the power of the people coming together under shared principles of liberty. We’re invited to reflect on the theme of freedom and the difference between “freedom from” vs “freedom to.”

Put Into Practice: Today when you sit with cacao, take time to honor with gratitude the liberties you experience in your life and your hopes for the liberties of all beings in the world. One Sanskrit prayer you may have come across in yoga is “May all beings everywhere be happy and free” or “ Lokah Samastah Sukinho Bhavantu.” This is a perfect day to integrate this mantra into your cacao practice.

Mon July 7th | World Chocolate Day

Modern chocolate is a highly monopolized and archaic business, with most of the chocolate consumed globally produced by just a handful of corporations. And about 70% of chocolate in the world is grown on mono-cropped industrial farms in West Africa.

Ceremonial cacao and chocolate both originate from the theobroma cacao tree but at the sourcing level, ceremonial cacao is regeneratively grown and ethically traded so that there is regeneration and stewardship of tropical rainforest ecosystems and so that the communities growing cacao are treated with respect. You can learn more about the difference between industrial chocolate and ceremonial cacao here (back from when we were called Firefly 😉).

On this day, share ceremonial cacao with your community and educate your friends on how chocolate in its purest form is potent medicine!

Recommended Cacao: Ora Founder, Jonas, was forever changed after learning to prepare cacao from Zapotec elder Maria - and our Oaxcan Spice cacao was born from these travels and learnings. Try sharing a cup with your friends on this special day, and introduce them to the magic of cacao!

Thurs July 10th | Full Moon in Capricorn

As the moon reaches fullness, we’re invited to reflect on what has come to fruition in our recent lives. With the moon in Capricorn, we are experiencing it through the lens of the earth's energy of building, long-term goals, and legacy. Capricorn is also the energy of the sea-goat that traverses the rocky mountain terrain one determined step at a time. Whatever is coming to close for release or completion in your life, Capricorn offers us the vantage point that there is always more to strive for.

Put Into Practice: Prepare a cup of cacao and grab your journal. Draw a line down the middle. Title the left “I am proud that I…” and the right side “I look forward to…”. As you sip your cacao, write your current accomplishments on the left and your aspirations on the right. Use this full moon to take a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come while holding the vision for what’s yet to blossom.

Weds July 16 | Cacao Ceremony Facilitation Course Enrollment Opens!

If you’ve been feeling the call to share cacao with your community, this course is for you! Together with a cohort of other students, you will journey through the historical, practical, technical, and spiritual components to sharing cacao ceremonially. The course begins mid August.

You can learn more about our Cacao Ceremony Facilitation Course here

Fri July 18th | Mercury Goes Retrograde

When Mercury goes retrograde, we’ve often heard to brace ourselves for potential delays and miscommunications. While this can be true, there’s also the virtue of this time as an opportunity to harness the retrograde energy to review and reflect. This can look like taking time to pause before reacting in order to respond, or revisiting and revising a project you’ve been working on.

Recommended Cacao: Take time to reflect and ponder with Mystical Mushroom - enhanced with 11 functional mushrooms and the wisdom of the mycelium to ground our cacao contemplations for this period of review.

Tues June 22nd | Sun Enters Leo

As the Sun enters Leo, we enter into the hottest time of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. This fixed fire sign’s planetary ruler is the Sun and offers us the medicine of letting your true self shine, leading from the heart, plus loyalty and courage. In the month ahead, pay attention to when you feel authentically yourself, times you shrink to fit in, and how you can bridge the gap to become more embodied and true!

Recommended Cacao: Allow Tantric Rose Blossom to unfurl your soul’s blossoming unique light, with the highest frequency flower of rose plus damiana to awaken the body and heart.

Thurs July 24th | International Self Care Day & New Moon in Leo

New Moons are a great time to retreat, rest, and reflect. Coupled with International Self Care Day, this is a potent time to sit in a new moon cacao ritual and gather one’s internal resources to show up for what’s next. When the moon is in Leo, we are invited into these above themes of being seen in our authentic lights. This can be a good time to recharge your inner light before stepping out to illuminate the world.

Recommended Cacao: Nourish your internal reserves with Vibrant Vitality - enhanced with maca and ashwagandha to offer balance to your hormones and adrenals.
