The Back Story:
Growing up in Germany, Firefly's founder Jonas ate plenty of Nutella, before he learned just how bad the ingredients in it are. For years he abstained from this favorite treat, but he yearned for that oh so fabulous combination of hazelnuts and chocolate.
That’s the inspiration for the Jar of Joy – reclaiming a classic childhood flavor combination in a way that supports thriving people and ecosystems. The first two ingredients in Nutella are cane sugar and palm oil. In the Jar of Joy, they are cacao beans and hazelnuts. The Jar of Joy is 100% organic, vegan, and uses our transparent trade Thriving Tanzania cacao and the finest Oregon hazelnuts.
With such quality ingredients, compared to Nutella, the Jar of Joy is way richer in flavor and far healthier! We have two options available: our classic recipe with 15% coconut sugar, and our low sugar recipe with just 7% coconut sugar.

Both the richness and the subtlety of this chocolate experience is unlike anything I thought I knew about chocolate. Easy to eat the entire jar with just a spoon, and walk away feeling great. I must say I have never done exactly that because I want to save some to savor the next day. This is a unique a wonderful taste and texture experience.
