When you think of joyful people, what do you think they have in common?

It’s not money.

It’s not that they are the coolest in the room.

It’s not the things they have.

Rather, it’s the active and continuous practice of gratitude, and having the ability to face life’s ups and downs in a centered way.

According to researcher Brene Brown, “…we think that joy makes us grateful, when in reality it’s gratitude that brings joy.”

By infusing a gratitude practice into our daily life, we can begin cultivating joy that will stand strong and won’t blow away like a leaf in the wind any time something doesn’t go as planned.

Gratitude can be something really simple, like thanking the clean water you are able to warm in order to make your favorite cup of cacao.

A gratitude practice doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, and you can take it anywhere you are.

To cultivate joy means to open yourself up to the beauty of life even when it is messy. As the year comes to a close, we invite you to infuse more gratitude into your life so that you can walk into 2023 with a softened and open heart.

As a wise elder says, “we are living in times where it is no longer about being grateful but rather it is about being gratitude and embodying it in everything we do.”

Daily Cacao Gratitude Practice

  • Prepare your cacao in your favorite way
  • Take note of where your cacao comes from, Belize, Guatemala, or Tanzania
  • Before you take your first sip and set your personal intentions, take some time to thank all the hands who cultivated your cup of cacao, the cacao trees, the ecosystem, the delivery person…
  • Bonus: take the time to research about the people who live in the lands where your cacao comes from, allowing yourself to create an even deeper connection to the community. We have some great info if you scroll down each of our pure cacao pages!
